A person can have a drug allergy to any drug but the following are the most common types of drug allergies.
Allergy skin testing or challenge testing by an allergist or medical professional can be performed to diagnose a drug allergy.
Avoidance is the best possible treatment for a drug allergy. For some forms of drug allergy there may be allergy skin testing available and that determination will be made by an allergist. People with severe drug allergies should carry epinephrine (know as an EpiPen) at all times and should consider wearing a medic-alert bracelet.
For severe allergic reactions, seek emergency medical attention.
