All offices will be closed on Friday, 11/24/2017, the day after Thanksgiving. All offices will open for normal hours on Monday, 11/27/2017.

The Bel Air Office will be open from 8-4 on Wednesday, 11/22/2017 and will remain closed until the following Monday, 11/27/2017.

What is Allergic Rhinitis (Hay Fever)?

Hay fever is cold-like symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing and sinus pressure that is caused by an allergic reaction to an outdoor or indoor allergen. Seasonal or outdoor triggers for hay fever can include tree pollen, grass pollen, ragweed, fungi and molds. Year-round hay fever can be triggered by dust mites, pet dander and mold spores.

Common Symptoms of Hay Fever

  • runny nose
  • itchy/watery eyes
  • sneezing
  • cough
  • sinus pressure
  • allergic shiners
  • Common Causes of Hay Fever

    Below are some of the common causes of hay fever.

  • tree, grass, ragweed pollen>
  • mold and fungi
  • dust mites
  • pet dander
  • Diagnosis and Treatment

    An allergist or healthcare provider can diagnose hay fever and provide the best form of treatment. Below are some of the common procedures used to diagnosis hay fever:

  • physical exam
  • skin prick test
  • lung function test/spirometry
  • allergy blood test (RAST)
  • Doctors may suggest treating hay fever with corticosteroids, antihistamines, decongestants and/or immunotherapy.
